Maura McGrath

Maura McGrath’s career until 2003 was with Bank Of Ireland Group working at executive level specialising in Human Resource Strategic Management Executive Development, Leadership, Organisational Change & Transformation.

During her career with the Bank she worked initially in Branch Banking and later as a HR specialist in Retail Banking, IT Division and Group Chief Executive office.

She held positions of Strategic HR Manager Retail Banking, Org. Change Director at Corporate level and had responsibility for Management & Leadership Development at a time when Bank of Ireland was acknowledged as a leader in the domain of Human Resource Management.

She has been a member of the Irish Management Institute and has contributed and led HR Programmes for HR/IR Professionals & Senior Managers both nationally and internationally.

In 1998 Maura was nominated by the Bank to the National Strategic Management Initiative at the Dept of An Taoiseach and since then has been involved in a number of major initiatives at Governmental Departmental level.

In October 2001 she was appointed to the Board of IBTS by Minister Mr Michael Martin. Since her appointment as Chairperson in 2003, she has led this organisation through deliberate strategies of governance, intensive financial restructuring and compliance with clinical standards.

In 2004 Maura was appointed a faculty member of ING Bank Business School, Amsterdam. Her prime responsibility was to develop and embed a performance-coaching model integral to ING Business/Country Managers Performance throughout Europe.

She was appointed to the Board of the newly established Public Appointments Service in October 2004, which oversees appointments at senior levels of both the Civil & Public service. In late 2004 she chaired a Transition Steering Group responsible for the devolution of functions from the Depf of Health & Children to the HSE and reported directly to Minister Mary Harney T D on this transition.

For the past three years Maura has provided HR Strategic Consultancy to the Health Service Executive and acted as HR Advisor to CEO and the Senior Management Team there. Specific HR Strategies to date have included restructuring, team building, behaviour change and service integration.
