Cliff Bowman

Cliff joined Ashridge as Director of Research in November 2007. Previously he was Professor of Strategic Management and Dean at Cranfield School of Management, UK. After graduating, Cliff worked for Shell UK in marketing and sales and then moved to the UK Civil Aviation Authority as an economist, where he worked in airport planning and airline economics.

Cliff joined Cranfield in 1988 where he taught strategy on the Cranfield MBA programmes and Cranfield’s executive short courses. His current research interests include competitive strategy, dynamic capabilities, strategy processes and the development and leveraging of strategic assets. He has undertaken consulting assignments for a wide range of organizations around the world, specializing in strategy process interventions with top teams.

He is the author of eight books and sixty articles. His books include Managing Strategy (Macmillan, 1996), Competitive and Corporate Strategy (Irwin, 1996), Strategy in Practice (Prentice Hall 1998), Developing World Class Corporate Strategies, (Butterworth Heinemann 2005), and Value Creating Corporate Leadership, (Butterworth Heinemann 2007).
