Masters in Organisational Behaviour

Overview

The MSc in Organisational Behaviour is Ireland’s premier post-graduate qualification, in the area of human behaviour in organisational settings.

Bringing together the thinking and research of the behavioural and organisational sciences, the programme aims to produce leaders with a superior ability to analyse problems, generate key insights and implement creative solutions.  Graduates will apply the full range of management theories and frameworks in an integrated and systematic way to their organisations.

One third of the yearly fee is payable on acceptance for the programme and one third at the beginning of each term.

Flexible Payment Option
Pay for 30% of your annual fees before the start of the programme each year, and pay the remaining balance on a monthly basis over the duration of the teaching year. This option does not carry interest. A guarantor will be required for this option

Lectures

In Year One, lectures will take place on Fridays from 1330 to 1900 and on Saturdays from 0900 to 1300 for three terms, totalling 22 weeks. As the Year Two learning approach is more experiential, lectures will take place on Fridays only, from 0900 to 1800.

Study

As a guideline, it is estimated that candidates will spend at least two hours on average per day.

Projects

Participants will be required to carry out assignments (mainly but not exclusively reading assignments) on a regular basis and to write a thesis on a project of interest to their organisation.

To complete the programme successfully, candidates must:

  1. satisfy lecturing staff on class participation and assignments.
  2. satisfy the examiners in the examination at the end of the second year. As a precondition to entering the second year of the programme candidates must satisfy the examiners about the standard of their work in an examination at the end of the first year.
  3. satisfy the examiners on the standard of his/her thesis.

You will become part of a highly cohesive community of experienced senior managers that shares an interest in increasing organisational effectiveness through people. This programme is designed to prepare managers and administrators to meet the challenge of leadership – to simultaneously meet the needs of their organisations and the needs of their people. It brings together the thinking and research of the behavioural and organisational sciences. The programme produces leaders with a superior ability to analyse problems, generate key insights, and implement creative solutions.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

Be university graduates or hold a comparable academic or professional qualification. In special circumstances, applications will be considered from those without such qualifications but with considerable experience and a record of achievement in the fields of business or administration.

For whom:

Those who feel that a more thorough grasp of and a professional development in the human and organisational sciences would enable them and their organisations to cope better with the future. It is not intended that candidates should be drawn exclusively from any particular management function.  The programme is relevant for people with backgrounds in different disciplines, provided their present job requires them to deal with people and organisational issues.

Accreditation

The programme is accredited by University College Cork (UCC) and attracts 90 ECTS credits at Level 9 (Masters level) on the National Framework of Qualifications. Those who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the title “Masters in Organisational Behaviour”
