Consortia Or Partnership Programmes

“The evidence suggests that important knowledge spillovers might be between rather than within industries”

IMI’s Experience in Consortia or Partnership Programmes

IMI delivers a range of programmes on an industry consortia basis and /or partnership with other leading executive education providers.

Irish organisations want global best practice provided in the context of business performance and that’s why our partnerships work. IMI’s core purpose is to improve organisations’ management practice through action based learning and we are uniquely placed to work in partnership with other international schools who specialise in global thought leadership that through IMI, is applied to specific business challenges.

Programme 1: Leadership 4 Growth in partnership with IMD, Lausanne Switzerland.

The Leadership 4 Growth Programme is a high impact 9 month programme that facilitates the leadership development of CEOs from Enterprise Ireland clients. IMI work in partnership with IMD, the leading international business school based in Lausanne in Switzerland. IMD delivers the workshops whereas IMI’s focus is on the practical implementation of the learning into each company’s business via the IMI Business Advisor Coaching Network.  The IMI is uniquely positioned to deliver the business advisory coaching service for the Programme. Consistent with IMI’s mission to raise the standard of management practice in Ireland, the Business Advisor Coaches are experienced business practitioners with backgrounds as CEOs and senior leaders with extensive experience in various industry sectors. Their role is both to advise and coach, bringing their experience to bear and facilitating the CEO and senior team in strategy design and implementation. They also support and challenge the CEOs in developing their personal leadership capability. Their objective is to support the transfer of learning from IMD to each participating CEO’s company context, to build capability across the senior team and ultimately deliver business impact.

It is built around both learning and action, pairing three residential modules at IMD’s campus in Switzerland with Insights days at IMI. The Insights days include the participation of the senior team to ensure that core concepts, models and tools can be understood and adopted across the business. Three core themes are addressed in both the modules and the coaching:

  • Integrating Dynamic Strategy
  • High Performance Leadership
  • Sustainable Growth

Tying the action and learning together is the team of IMI Business Coaches who support and challenge their CEOs whom they meet in their company on a 1-1 basis and with their management teams. Coaching groups have also been formed whereby groups of CEOs work together, meeting regularly, and provide a peer group to support, challenge and hold each other accountable.

Leadership 4 Growth represents a collaborative model at the forefront of executive education – with the collaboration of a government agency, the IMI Business Coaches and IMD. It is having an impact at the individual, organisational and industry level.

“I found our Business Advisor Coach to be a very experienced business person with excellent personal skills and people of this capability are invaluable.”

Conor Ryan, CEO,
Arrabawn Co-op

“The L4G experience has been fantastic. The tools to re-evaluate our strategy and identify areas of weakness with our Business Advisor Coach are proving invaluable. The Insight Days successfully made this a whole team experience and has enhanced confidence in our expansion plans in the UK and beyond. The programme has encouraged us to look outside of our sector for ideas and best-practice, and to seek out valuable partnerships.”
