Declan Coyle is author of The Green Platform and a much sought after international speaker and consultant to business and sports teams in the areas of motivation and performance.
Originally from a farming family in Co. Cavan, Declan joined the Columban Fathers after leaving school and spent 27 years with them working in the slums of the Philippines and with the poor of Taiwan. During this time, he witnessed incredible poverty and tragedy and at the same time, the strength of the human spirit in the face of incredible adversity.
The defining moment for Declan however came earlier in his life when studying for his Masters degree in Canada. Here he met the great Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl. Frankl’s insights into a person’s ability to choose happiness and positive meaning in their lives in spite of dire circumstances had a huge influence on Declan and started him on the road to developing his Green Platform principles and thinking.
These principles form the bedrock for Declan’s work in Ireland and abroad with Blue Chip companies, Government Departments, Sports Teams and Individuals. He works with diverse sectors including Banking and Financial Services, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Information Technology, Insurance, Regulatory Bodies, Professional Services and Unions.
His insights into motivation and performance have also lead to him working in the sports arena where he has given regular goal setting and mental strength motivational programmes to a number of GAA teams including the successful Kerry and Cork (football) and Tipperary and Dublin (hurling) teams. Declan is himself a former Ulster Championship medal winner who played senior football with Cavan.
He has also worked with the Kentucky Wildcats when they won the National Basketball title in the USA.
