Denis Naughten

Denis Naughten brings rare, first‑hand insight into how policy, politics, and power interact to shape economic and business outcomes. With more than two decades at the centre of Irish public life, including service as a government minister and long‑standing member of the Oireachtas, he has been directly involved in decision‑making during periods of profound political, economic, and societal uncertainty.

During his career, Denis worked at the intersection of government, regulation, and long‑term national strategy, engaging with complex issues where global forces, domestic politics, and economic realities collide. He is widely recognised for his independent judgement and for navigating contested policy environments with clarity and purpose.

Since leaving frontline politics, Denis has focused on the strategic challenge now facing leaders globally: how to connect evidence, research, and long‑term thinking to real‑world policy and business decisions. Through his work with international institutions and policy forums, he has collaborated with senior political leaders, scientists, and experts worldwide on strengthening evidence‑informed decision‑making in an era of accelerating geopolitical, economic, and technological change. He is a High-Level Advisor to the UN Climate & Clean Air Coalition’s Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) and also a global advisor to the Human Exposome Project which is an international scientific initiative designed to map the environmental exposures (chemical, physical, biological, and social) a person experiences from conception to death.
For business leaders seeking to understand not just what is happening, but why policy and political systems are behaving as they are — and what that means for strategy — Denis Naughten offers a grounded, practical perspective shaped by experience at the sharp end of power and uncertainty.
