Doing business in Hong Kong and China

Hong Kong has always been recognized as a great place to do business with it’s open economy, international status, attractive tax rates and sound legal system. Known as the gateway to China it has held a very strategic position for that rapidly growing market. More recently the landscape has changed as the Chinese economy slows and China has developed a much more accretive position towards Hong Kong. There are growing fears around this assertiveness and the future of the Chinese economy.  The future looks fraught.

With this backdrop in mind, the IMI will be hosting a one off post which will outline what is it like to do business in both Hong Kong and China.  A presentation will be delivered by Professor Edwin Roberts from the University of Hong Kong.  Professor Roberts will give an in depth view of the business environments in both Hong Kong and China and will be accompanied by a number of MBA students who hold senior positions in Hong Kong and China based organisations.  They will also be on hand to part with their wealth of knowledge on transacting business in the region.
